This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Thursday, September 11th –

On this day, back in 2001 — Air Force Reserve Major LeRoy Homer, Class of ‘87, is killed when United Airlines Flight 93, on which he was First Officer, crashes into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In addition, retired Colonel Charles Jones, Class of ‘74, is killed when American Airlines Flight 11, on which he was a passenger, crashes into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
