This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Wednesday, March 26th– 

On this day, back in 2012  —  The U.S. Senate confirms Lieutenant General Janet Wolfenbarger, Class of ’80, for promotion to General, which upon her promotion in June 2012 made her the Air Force’s first female four-star general. 

…Also on this day, back in 1982  —  The formal groundbreaking takes place for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.  The Memorial, designed by Maya Lin, would contain the names of more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives in service to their country, including some 150 Air Force Academy graduates.  The Memorial was dedicated on 13 November 1982.
