U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. —  The 10th Air Base Wing recognized 10 outstanding Airmen performers Oct. 19 at the Air Force Academy.

Kelly Peterson, 10th Communications Squadron project manager, was nominated as the exceptional performer in the Senior Civilian category.

“It was just so unexpected that it brought tears to my eyes,” she said. “It was humbling and appreciated.”

Combined, the group of 20 civilian, enlisted and commissioned nominees completed 27 college hours, earned GPAs of 3.5 or higher and completed nearly 200 hours of continuing-education directly related to their Air Force specialties. One Airman also completed their fourth Community College of the Air Force degree.

The group supported 26 volunteer events to raise more than $80,000, and served nearly 1,600 meals to local homeless or needy. The nominees alone personally served 118,693 people.

“Today’s ceremony celebrates and highlights the incredible work these airmen accomplished across the last quarter,” said Col. Shawn Campbell, 10th ABW commander. “Just think about how much the whole of Team Ten completed this quarter were all of our efforts calculated and combined.  Outstanding!”

Campbell hosted the Third Quarter Awards Ceremony, presenting each Airmen their award.
