This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Monday, July 21 – 

On this day, back in 1910 — Orville Wright conducts experimental flights at Dayton, Ohio, using a wheeled chassis. A set of twin wheels was attached to each skid, marking a significant evolution in early aviation. The Wright Brothers are the exemplars for the Academy’s Class of 2015.

…Also on this day, back in 2011 — The Space Shuttle Atlantis lands at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, concluding the final flight of the Space Transportation System program. Over 30 years and 135 missions, 36 Air Force Academy graduates flew aboard NASA’s shuttle fleet.
