Bio

Brianna Hitt is an Assistant Professor of Applied Statistics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the U.S. Air Force Academy. She enjoys teaching statistics and data science to students at all levels. Brianna serves as the Associate Director of the Data Science program and an Advisor-in-Charge for the major. She has been an academic advisor for first-year cadets and for numerous Data Science majors. Brianna provides statistical analysis for various initiatives across USAFA and serves as an admissions reviewer for the Dean of Faculty. Her research interests include group/pooled testing, statistical education and statistical consulting in various fields.

Brianna earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2020. Her dissertation research focused on group/pooled testing and she created a Shiny web application, used by researchers all over the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, to assist laboratory personnel in the implementation of pooled testing. She also maintains the binGroup2 R package available on CRAN. Brianna previously worked as a statistical consultant, collaborating with faculty and student researchers in more than 35 different departments across the University of Nebraska.
