Dr. John Ciezki
Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Bio
Dr. Ciezki received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D., all in Electrical Engineering, from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He is an Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), where he is directs academic advising, coordinates department Gift Fund activities, mentors the Robotics Club, and serves on the department curriculum committee.
Professor Ciezki is in charge of DFEC’s power courses, the robotics course, and capstone courses. He has published numerous papers and technical reports in the areas of power electronic controls, power system modeling and simulation, and student undergraduate research. He helps coordinate research activities relevant to the department’s cyber power system simulator.

Research and Scholarly Interests
Dr. Ciezki’s research interests include the analysis, modeling, simulation, and control of power systems, motor drives, and power converters. Much of his early research work was directed toward the development of power electronics-based shipboard distribution systems and electric drive systems for the Navy. More recently, Dr. Ciezki has been more involved in directing undergraduate research efforts in designing a table-top railgun demonstrator, designing a soft-switching dc-dc converter based on SiC devices, and expanding a power system testbed to study anomaly detection.
