This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Tuesday, June 10th– 

On this day, back in 2013 —  Colonel Stacey Hawkins, Class of ’91, assumes command of the 10th Air Base Wing at the Academy during a ceremony presided over by the Superintendent, Lieutenant General Michael Gould, Class of ’76.  Colonel Hawkins succeeded Colonel Tim Gibson. 

…Also on this day, back in 2021 – Second Lieutenant Maria Mettler, Class of ’21, places third in the 10,000-meter run at the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.  She posted a time of 32 minutes, 34-point-zero-five seconds, earning first-team All-America honors.
