Bus transportation to nearby airports during holiday breaks

HOLIDAY BREAK SHUTTLE INFORMATION

Prior to Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break, the Vandenberg Outdoor Recreation Center (VORC) arranges bus transportation for cadets and cadet candidates (Prep School) to and from nearby airports.

TICKETS

Cadets can purchase tickets in person at the VORC, Room 1C15. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cadets must know airline departure and arrival times when purchasing tickets in person. Only cadets who purchase tickets in advance are guaranteed rides. Seats are sold after the deadline until they are no longer available.

DEPARTURE INFORMATION

Buses depart from the base of the Core Values Ramp.
Buses leave on time, every time.
Luggage is limited to one large bag or two medium bags and one carry-on.
Cadets are responsible for loading their own luggage. Luggage should be clearly marked.

RETURN INFORMATION

DIA buses depart from Level 5, East Baggage Claim Door #505.
COS buses will have an ORC rep outside baggage claim to direct cadets.
Stand-by tickets are sold at DIA for $35 and COS for #25 – there is no guarantee a seat will be available.

HOLIDAY BREAK INFORMATION

Dates change from year to year. Please check with your cadet for specific holiday break dates before purchasing tickets.

Thanksgiving Break

Cadets are normally able to leave after the last military duty (LMD). LMD could be noon formation if the cadet has a morning class or following afternoon classes. Check with your cadet before purchasing any airline tickets. Upon return, cadets and cadet candidates should land in Denver no later than 3 hours prior to Academy check-in time of 7 p.m. No set time for Colorado Springs, but at least an hour is suggested.

Winter Break

Cadets/cadet candidates are normally able to leave any time on the release date, but check with your cadet. If they take their last final on Wednesday, they can leave after their final with Commander’s permission (standard release is given). Your cadet can access the Academy’s computer system (CAMIS) to see when his or her finals are. Cadets will not be allowed to move up finals for airline tickets.
