Bio

Major Salgado is currently an Assistant Professor of Operations Research in the Management Department at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Major Salgado has spent the majority of his career developing novel ways to assess military risk in order to make optimal decisions under uncertain conditions. At the Air Force Institute of Technology he studied the military inventory routing problem to enable the delivery of crucial supplies to troops in austere combat conditions where he was awarded a Masters and subsequent PhD in Operations Research. Major Salgado then spent three years working at Headquarters Air Force in Studies, Analyses, and Assessments where his work in network optimization analyzed risk to mission and risk to force for the entire Air Force enterprise, enabling Air Force top leadership to make informed budget allocation decisions impacting 27 billion dollars of Air Force strategic planning decisions. Additionally, Major Salgado developed a closed from fighter/tanker allocation requirement model for defensive counter air operations saving AMC 600 man-hours a quarter which was subsequently directly briefed to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. Outside of work, Major Salgado enjoys spending time with his family, serving in church, and learning new things.
