USAFA wins INFORMS award

U.S. Air Force Academy Public Affairs, Aug. 29, 2017 The Institute for Operations Research and Management awarded the prestigious 2017 UPS George Smith Prize to the U.S. Air Force Academy for its innovative Operations Research program, Aug. 25. Smith was a UPS chief executive officer who championed operations research at Fortune 500 corporations. Brig. Gen. Academy Airmen graduate leadership school

Along with earning six college credit hours in leadership training, successfully completing the course qualifies all six to directly supervise Airmen. By Ray Bowden/Aug. 30, 2017 U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO -- When Hurricane Harvey struck Texas, the North Texas Parent Club “got mobilized” and organized a dinner Sept. 1 at a Colorado Springs restaurant for cadets from the Gulf Coast. Hurricane Harvey, the largest rainstorm in the history of the continental U.S. according to some meteorologists, began pounding the region Aug. 26. No trespassing: 10 SFS issues ‘surface danger’ area notice

10th Security Forces Squadron/Oct. 10, 2017 An area used for weapons training by 10th Security Forces Airmen is off-limits to anyone not conducting official training or without the approval of the 10th SFS. The "surface danger area," is in the northwest part of the Air Force Academy near Cathedral Rock. It's marked by off-limit signs. Anyone in the area without permission may be detained and could face prosecution under federal and civil law. Call 719-333-2218, 333-3124 or 333-0999, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., to coordinate a visit into this training zone. Call 333-2000 after normal business hours.
