The NeuroGroove Project
The NeuroGroove project aims to help people with quadriplegia control and drive a race car.
A team of eight Air Force Academy Academy cadets—majoring in electrical, computer or systems engineering—was instructed to use a smart headset to control a wheelchair to aid people with quadriplegia. The headset takes in head movements utilizing the head like a joystick, and connects to the wheelchair using a Wi-Fi interface, a few commercial off-the-shelf products and a team-designed and built a circuit to send voltages to the wheelchair. In addition to the NeuroGroove goal, this project has a significant impact on the Air Force and its disabled veterans.
