Academy, Air Force, Industry Experts Team to Improve Cadet Chapel

The interior and exterior of the chapel was laser scanned and photographed via remotely piloted aerial vehicle Monday through today as part of ongoing Academy engineering research. General public has 1 month to see Cadet Chapel before renovations begin

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Cadet Chapel at the Air Force Academy is scheduled to close Jan. 1 for at least four years for necessary renovations and repairs. Visitors have about one month to visit Colorado’s number one man-made attraction before the preservation and restoration repairs are slated to begin. The Chapel will be open through the holiday season. Visitor hours of operation are 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday. Cadet Chapel to remain open through September

U.S. Air Force Academy Public Affairs / April 29, 2019 U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Cadet Chapel will remain open through Sept. 1, 2019 as the Academy continues to work toward a funding solution for sorely needed repairs. The chapel was originally scheduled to close for renovations Jan. 1. The planning team will reevaluate as needed in order to keep the chapel open to the public as long as possible and until more definitive project funding guidance becomes available.

Cadet Chapel to close for restoration project Sept. 4

Staff Reports, Aug. 20, 2019 U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The iconic Cadet Chapel at the United States Air Force Academy will close for more than three years beginning Sept. 4 for necessary repairs. After removing the Chapel’s furnishings and other preparations, the actual work on the $158 million project will begin on Nov. 1 and projected for completion on Nov. 1, 2022.
