Lt Col Alex Pelbath
Lieutenant Colonel Alexander J. Pelbath is the Director of C-17 Special Operations, 437th Operations Group, 437th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. His division is responsible for worldwide Joint Chiefs of Staff high priority missions with a 24/7 alert response force. His 185 member team provides C-17 support to Special Operations Forces and specializes in airland and airdrop direct delivery. Lieutenant Colonel Pelbath was commissioned in 2001 from the United States Air Force Academy, CO where he served as the captain of the Air Force wrestling team. His flying assignments have included McChord AFB, WA, Scott AFB, IL, Travis AFB, CA and JB Charleston, SC. Lieutenant Colonel Pelbath has multiple deployments in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, RESOLUTE SUPPORT, and NEW DAWN. He served as the aide de camp to the Commander, Resolute Support in Afghanistan, as Special Assistant to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., and as Commander, 16th Airlift Squadron, Joint Base Charleston, SC. Most recently Lieutenant Colonel Pelbath was the Air Mission Commander for the final evacuation of military and civilian personnel in Kabul, Afghanistan. In this role he was responsible for all aircraft supporting the Joint Tactical Exfil and was the last aircraft off the ground, ending the United States’ 20 year mission in Afghanistan.
