The United States Air Force Academy truly believes in the value of partnerships – not only between disciplines at the Academy, but also with other academic institutions, industry and government partners.
The Academy’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Outreach Program exists to engage, inspire and attract the next generation of STEM talent through K-12 programs. Faculty and cadets work with the local community, schools and teachers to provide outreach and increase the effectiveness of the Air Force’s investment in STEM. Cadets have the opportunity to mentor the next generation of potential cadets through involvement in these efforts.
Through the use of different agreements, the Academy is able to form partnerships to enhance technologies, bring to market new innovations and contribute to the needs and betterment of the Air Force.
- Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) enable our partners to use the expertise of Academy faculty, assistance of cadets and expanse of our facilities. CRADAs also allow us to utilize outside expertise and equipment to further our own ongoing research.
- We also have long-term partnerships with state non-profits through the use of Partnership Intermediary Agreements (PIAs).
- Academy patent technologies are available to industry partners through the use of Patent License Agreements (PLAs).
