U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Missing your cadet now that they’ve started Basic Cadet Training at the Air Force Academy? Here’s a few tips to fill up that “empty nest” until Parents Weekend starts Aug. 30.

1.  Take a Trip

With all the money you’re saving on groceries, why not just get away for a while?

2.  Make new friends

There are nearly 100 Parents’ Clubs across the country. Join one in your state.

3.  Rearrange your cadet’s room at home

No doubt this will spark a healthy conversation when your cadet visits after they start their academic studies.

4.  Communicate with us on our Academy Official Facebook site

5.  Take up a new hobby

Consider improving your swing at the Academy’s Eisenhower Golf Course if you’re local.

6.  Do nothing. It’s really easy.

Relax until Parents Weekend and celebrate the end of BCT with your cadet. We’ll even let you hug them.

7.  Take a marksmanship class. You’ll understand how safe our range activities are.

8.   Know how grateful we are for cadet parents. Your sons and daughters could not have made it  without your support, love and care.

9.  Get your USAFA Spirit Gear
