Joint Staff communications director visits Academy CyberWorx

Vice Admiral Marshall  Lytle III, Director Command, Control, Communications and Computers & Cyber, Chief Information Officer on the Joint Staff, J6/CIO, at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., visited the Academy Sept. 18, 2017. He met with Col. Jeffrey Collins, CyberWorx director, to discuss the public-private design center focused on cyber capability that melds AF warfighters, academic, and industry expertise with state-of-the-art technology and innovative thinking to solve tough operational problems.

CyberWorx employs an approach called Design Thinking to drive innovative solutions. Design Thinking employs a structured, but dynamic process to problem-solving that enhances cognitive diversity and creativity. CyberWorx accepts significant risk knowing that failures are likely: Failing quickly and cheaply within the CyberWorx studios promotes risk tolerance and encourages bold thinking needed for AF operations in all domains.

At the Pentagon, Admiral Lytle develops C4 capabilities; conducts analysis and assessments; provides Joint and Combined Force C4 guidance, and evaluates C4 requirements, plans, programs and strategies for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
