U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. —  If you like things that fizz, pop, and smoke, you’ll enjoy an afternoon with the Air Force Academy’s special science guest, Steve Spangler.

To celebrate the grand opening of the Academy’s new planetarium, Spangler will host a show at Arnold Hall, 3-4 p.m., March 2, followed by an open house at the planetarium, 4-4:45 p.m.

Spangler is well-known for showing millions how make a geyser out of soda and a roll of Mentos. He’s a regular guest on Ellen DeGeneres’s popular TV show, with 20 appearances so far. From sparks of electricity to exploding bubbles and giant rings of smoke, Spangler’s show is family-friendly and designed to engage your sense of wonder.

The event is free of charge and tickets are required. To reserve tickets, call 719-333-4496. Tickets may picked up 8-3 p.m., Monday-Friday, at the Arnold Hall ticket office, or at will-call by 2 p.m. the day of the show.

Guest parking is in the Cadet Field House parking lot. A shuttle will take guests to Arnold Hall.

The planetarium is scheduled to open to the public March 4.
