Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at America’s Colleges, Universities, and Service Academies.

“Transforming Culture to Eradicate Sexual Violence.”


Discussion Goals
  1. Share evidenced-based practices to eliminate sexual assault and sexual harassment at colleges, universities, and service academies.
  2. Identify and discuss the positive and negative social and environmental factors and behaviors influencing the conditions‎ surrounding sexual assault and sexual harassment
  3. Cultivate a network of senior leaders, experts, and dynamic thinkers who will continue to communicate toward the goal of reducing sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Communication Goals
  1. Communicate policies and the efficacy of DoD endorsed prevention measures that combat sexual assault and sexual harassment to increase stakeholder awareness (knowledge).
  2. Boost stakeholder perception (attitudes) by demonstrating what actions the DoD is adopting to collectively improve the process of investigation and prosecution of sexual assault / sexual harassment allegations.
  3. To expand sexual assault survivors’ access to DoD-wide reporting capabilities and support services (behavior).
  4. To continue developing a network of trauma-informed resources that follow survivors’ continuum of care as uniformed and civilian service members or MSA cadets and midshipmen.
Communication Objectives
  1. To have an effect on awareness; specifically, to shape a culture of trust on college, university and military service academy campuses by creating a national dialogue regarding prevention practices among colleges and universities targeting sexual assault and sexual harassment.
  2. To have an effect on action; specifically, to eliminate the incidence of sexual assault and sexual harassment on college and university campuses by sharing prevention practices and implementing strategies.
  3. To have an effect on acceptance; specifically, to increase positive opinion among leaders and educators, through an open discussion on evidence-based practices and prevention measures.
