Change of Command Ceremony

We invite you to join us on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 as Lt. Gen. Richard Clark assumes command as the 21st Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy and we bid farewell to Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria. 

The event is closed to the public, but will be streamed live from Falcon Stadium on Facebook and YouTube.


Schedule of Events

8 – 8:45 AM Capability Exercise featuring cadets and airmen of the 306th Flight Training Group.
9 – 10:30 AM Change of Command Ceremony, beginning with remarks by Gen. John Raymond, Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. and The Honorable Barbara Barrett; followed by the formal Change of Command and remarks by Lt. Gen. Richard Clark; concluding with the Retirement Ceremony and remarks by Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria.

Biography of Lt. Gen. Richard Clark

Prior to his appointment as the 21st Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy, Lt. Gen. Richard M. Clark served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia, where he was responsible to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force for focus on Nuclear Deterrence Operations. Lt. Gen. Clark graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1986. His commands include the 34th Bomb Squadron, Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota; 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph AFB, Texas; 8th Air Force, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana and Joint Functional Component Commander for Global Strike, Offutt AFB, Nebraska. He has also served as a White House Fellow in Washington, D.C.; the Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado and Senior Defense Official/Defense Attaché, Cairo, Egypt.
