Air Force Academy Performing Units

The U.S. Air Force Academy’s performing units are made up of mainly Academy cadets with one unit of active duty personnel. Whether providing military honors or performing precision drill, singing, music, showing the school mascot, flying or parachute jumping these groups of men and women volunteers represents a commitment to excellence in their performances.

Besides military functions, these units provide support for community outreach and so participate at various open to the public or community events, for schools, veteran’s organizations, civic groups, youth groups, air shows and others. A limited schedule for these performing units is formed around Academy classes and training requirements from mid-August through mid-May. Many cadet units are unavailable during the summer.

The USAFA Public Affairs Office is your only questions and scheduling point of contact for any of these units to perform at any event. Please do not contact any unit members directly about scheduling a performance to an event even if the unit has attended your events in the past.

The following provides only a brief summary of details. To request a detailed copy of the performing units information packet and request form contact us using one of the options below.

The Air Force Academy is a military school which places emphasis on academics, military and athletic training and character development which take up much of a cadet’s time. This structure can be different from many public or private colleges and universities, so for the cadets these obligations will continue to be their main focus. Daily class schedules, school finals, school breaks, cadet military training, graduation or base restrictions will take precedence over any request and will effect available.

Accepting requests are determined on a case by case basis, once approved any date or time change you make to the event could prevent the unit from attending.

Requests should be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the event date. Some units will require even more notice depending on their needs. Late submissions are less likely to be approved.

Host requirements and responsibility: The performing units do not charge a fee to perform (no honorariums); however the host requirements listed in the performing unit’s packet are the things required that an organization must agree to provide to sponsor a unit. Such as round trip ground or commercial air transportation to and from the event, government or rental vehicles, meals and lodging (per diem).

Restrictions: Air Force regulations prohibit the use of Academy personnel to participate in some events under a variety of circumstances. These restrictions may apply to your event.

Commercial agencies: All contact and coordination for any request will be done directly between the organization that we would be providing support to and this office. Requests through a commercial services agency or commercial intermediary (middleman or go between) will not be accepted.
