The following is only a small portion of information you will need to know explaining what is needed by you and your organization to host one or more of these units. Those important details are in the performing units information packet which will be sent to you upon request. The information packet will contain:
  • A restrictions section: Air Force regulations prohibit the use of Academy personnel to participate in some events under a variety of circumstances.
  • Performing unit information:  Each units section explains what the performing unit does and can provide during an event.
  • Host requirements: The performing units do not charge a fee to perform (no honorariums) however host requirements listed with each unit are the things required that you and your organization must agree to provide to sponsor a unit. For example, requesters normally must agree to provide transportation, room and board, an area to perform etc.
The Air Force Academy is a military school which places emphasis on academics, military and athletic training and character development which take up much of our cadet’s time. This structure can be different from many public and private colleges and universities, so for the cadets these obligations will continue to be their main focus which may affect their availability.
During the school year, daily class schedules, school finals, school breaks, cadet military training, graduation or base restrictions will take precedence over requests so these units may not be available to perform at your event. Accepting requests are determined on a case by case basis.

Requests should be submitted at least three weeks in advance of the event date; sooner is even better. Some units may need 60 days or more depending on their needs. Late submissions are less likely to be approved.

The information packet will show that many cadet units are unavailable during the summer. They temporarily disband during this time until the start of the new school year so they can’t take requests during the summer. Remember, school and military training have priority so they will not be able to make a decision on requests until after they review their fall semester schedules (in early August). This applies to their spring schedules (in early January), as well.

The Public Affairs Office is your scheduling point of contact. Please do not contact the performing units directly about scheduling a performance.

All contact or coordination must be done directly between the primary requester or organization and the Public Affairs Office. No requests through a commercial services agency or commercial intermediary (middleman) will be accepted. If you are not the primary requester please forward it to the main requester so that they may contact this office.
