MONDAY, 23 MAY 2016

TUESDAY, 31 MAY 2016

GRADUATION TAPPING CEREMONY

8:00 - 9:15 a.m.

This event incorporates several "tapping" ceremonies, including the Curtiss, Civil Air Patrol, 100-Year Honor Roll, Outstanding Falcon Scholar, Enlisted Cadet and USAFA Preparatory School Cadet Tapping Ceremonies. Open to honored cadets and their families. During the ceremony, a special nameplate for each honored individual will be affixed ("tapped") onto the memorial plaque located in Arnold Hall and presentations will be made.

Seating is first-come, first-served. The Cadet Sabre Drill Team will perform prior to thestart of the ceremony.

This ceremony honors cadets who have completed the Academy Scholars Program. This program helps academically talented cadets reach their full potential by offering a unique and challenging path through the curriculum, thereby providing the Air Force and our Nation with a pool of intellectually talented and well-rounded leaders. Open to the cadets and their guests; no tickets required.

The Air Force Academy Foundation (AFAF) Cadet Leadership Reception honors cadets from the squadron receiving the AFAF- sponsored Leadership & Scholarship Squadron Award and past Georgetown and Colorado Leadership Alliance Scholars. Attendance is by invitation only.

GRADUATION PARADE

9:00 - 10:30 a.m.

Mandatory for cadets and open to their families and guests. Seating is first-come, first-served. Due to security restrictions, all guests will be screened by security personnel and may have purses or personal items searched. Please do not bring large bags/backpacks to the parade. Cameras, video cameras and binoculars are permitted - please be prepared to remove lenses for security inspection at the parade field entrance. Make sure to arrive early to view aerial demonstrations from our cadet flying teams including glider landings and Wings of Blue (8:15-9:00).

AIRFIELD OPEN HOUSE AND STATIC DISPLAYS

12:30 - 4:30 p.m.

For all cadets, their families, and guests. The 306 FTG Open House is an opportunity for cadets to showcase the airmanship programs they participate in as a cadet. Parking is limited, so carpooling is recommended. This is an informal event that will have numerous briefings and displays for guests.

WINGS OF BLUE AWARDS & "BLUE SUIT" CEREMONY

1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

There will be a short reception following the ceremony in conjunction with the airfield open house.

COMMISSIONING CEREMONIES

4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

For graduating cadets, their families, and guests. Individual squadrons will determine locations and times. At this "ceremonial" event, the graduates will take the Oath of Office and will be pinned by the guests of their choice. The formal commissioning will take place at the Graduation Ceremony the next day; the Commandant of Cadets signs each graduate's commissioning certificate. Following the Commissioning Ceremony on Wednesday, graduates must remove their active duty rank until after the Graduation Ceremony. A member of the USAFA Legacy Class will present engraved Lt bars to each graduate at this ceremony. A list of squadron ceremonies with times and locations will be posted here. GRADUATION FORMAL RECEPTION

5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

The Graduation Reception is a formal, heavy hors d'oeuvres reception for graduating cadets, their families and guests. Guests have the opportunity to meet and mingle with senior USAFA staff and the USAF Thunderbirds pilots and staff.
There is no limit to the number of guests per cadet; however, due to the popularity of this event, recommend you purchase tickets when they become available (1 Apr 2016). Tickets may be purchased from Academy Concerts located in Arnold Hall and may be purchased in person or by phone at (719) 333-4497, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Credit cards (Master Card and Visa) are accepted. Graduating cadets attend at no charge but must pick up their free tickets from Academy Concerts. There will be no ticket sales at the door but previously purchased tickets may be picked up at "Will Call" at Mitchell Hall (center doors). Cost per ticket is $18.00. Event flyer is here.

GRADUATION CEREMONY

9:30 - 12:30 p.m.

Graduating cadets will receive as many tickets as they need for their family and guests through their squadrons; contact your cadet to make arrangements to get the tickets from him/her upon your arrival at USAFA. All guests (including children and babies in car seats) must have tickets to enter the stadium. Stadium gates open at 7:00 a.m.

Location: Falcon Stadium
Parking: Falcon Stadium parking lots. Handicapped parking in south end of Lot 5 and north end of Lot 1.
Transportation will be available from the handicapped lots to the stadium gates.
Transportation: No shuttle service will be provided from the Cadet Area.

HANDICAPPED INFORMATION: Handicapped parking for the Graduation Ceremony is available in Lots 1 and 5 at Falcon Stadium. Guests may show their state handicapped placard in order to park in this lot. Golf carts will be available to transport handicapped guests from the parking area to the stadium gates. Wheelchair and handicapped seating is located at the top row of Sections L3- L13, M2, M6, M10, M14, U2, U5, U9, and U12. These seats are not ticketed and are available first-come, first-served for handicapped guests and one companion, so please make sure to arrive early. Remember that all seating in Falcon Stadium is outdoors and weather conditions may be uncomfortable for infirm or elderly guests. STADIUM SECURITY: Due to security restrictions in Falcon Stadium, all guests will pass through metal detectors and may have purses or personal items searched. No boxes, alcohol, weapons, firecrackers, beverage containers of any sort, backpacks, large handbags, coolers, thermoses or similar items will be allowed in the stadium. Food and drink are prohibited with the exception of clear, unopened water bottles and medically necessary items with a doctor’s order. Cameras and video cameras are permitted; please be prepared to remove camera lenses for security inspection at the stadium gates. Diaper bags will be allowed when a child is present - no strollers please. Refreshments will be available from vendors throughout the stadium. Please note that there are no elevators in the stadium, and handicapped-accessible seating is very limited and first-come, first-served. There is no covered seating at the stadium and the Press Box cannot be occupied during the ceremony.

For those guests who cannot attend the ceremony at the stadium due to health concerns or handicap status, a simultaneous broadcast will be displayed at Richter Lounge, located in Arnold Hall.

GRAD PHOTOS/VIDEOS: Cadet guests will not be allowed access to the stage or cadet seating area for personal photos during the ceremony. A professional contract photographer will photograph each cadet receiving his or her diploma. The contract photographer will mail proofs to each graduating cadet’s home of record within six weeks after graduation with instructions for purchasing these photographs. HAT TOSS: Takes place at the end of the ceremony, after the Commandant of Cadets issues the Oath of Office and as the Thunderbirds roar overhead! Children (ages 7-10 only) will be allowed on the stadium floor to retrieve hats from the graduates’ hat toss. Ushers will monitor access to the stadium floor from the east stands near the scoreboard. Parents should plan to retrieve theirchildren in the south-east stands following the ceremony. Note: Please, only one hat per child.

THUNDERBIRDS PERFORMANCE: The USAF Thunderbirds Demonstration takes place over Falcon Stadium immediately following the graduation ceremony. The team is comprised of selected pilots assigned to demonstrate the coordination, discipline and flying ability that combat-capable pilots require to fulfill their vital role in our nation's defense. For your own safety and to comply with FAA regulations, guests will not be permitted to leave the stadium until after the Thunderbirds' performance ends. Guests are not permitted in the parking lots during the demonstration. Release of helium-filled balloons from the stadium is not allowed.
