Faculty Opportunities
The United States Air Force Academy, located just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an undergraduate institution which awards the Bachelor of Science degree as part of its mission to inspire and develop outstanding young men and women to become Air Force officers with knowledge, character, and discipline. Faculty applications are invited from candidates who can contribute to this mission by interacting with cadets, both in and out of the classroom, as instructors and mentors. Applications are invited from candidates with strong interests in teaching, developing undergraduate courses, and developing systems engineering thinkers. The Academy faculty is an integrated group of military and civilian educators. Essential qualities expected of every faculty member include the personal attributes of integrity, industry, cooperation, initiative, and breadth of intellectual interests. The ability to accommodate a service academy environment is essential. The student body consists of approximately 4000 men and women representing every state and several foreign countries.

Military Opportunities
The Engineering Division at the United States Air Force Academy are looking for energetic, bright officers to instruct in and lead the development of the SECAF and CSAF requested Systems Engineering majors. Systems Engineering is the Academy's newest major and was fully accredited (6 year, with back accreditation to the program's first graduates in 2006) by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) November 2008 (with final report due out summer 2009). Instructor duty is a three year controlled tour.

General Requirements for Military Applicants
The normal hiring guidelines are:
  • Undergraduate GPA > 3.0
  • Graduate GPA > 3.5
  • GMAT, GRE scores > 550 (scores within the last 5 years if seeking sponsorship)
Systems Engineering Special Requirements
Applicants should meet the following qualifications to apply:
  1. Technical undergraduate degree: Engineering or related field
  2. Accredited graduate masters or terminal degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field
  3. AFSC:
  4. Experience : Project engineer/systems engineer for a weapon system
  5. APDP: desired, but not necessary if experience is there
    1. SPRD&E Level 2
    2. Program Management Level 1

  • Records Review RIP from local MPF
  • 1-3 letters of recommendation
