Mission:
To enhance America's defense through educational advancement and
multidisciplinary information technology research and
applications at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Vision:
To serve as a renowned Air Force research center for operational
and educational information technology applications.
History:
The institute for
information technology applications was formed in 1998 to engage
in multidisciplinary research at the US Air Force Academy
(USAFA) to research and develop products with information
technology that would benefit education and operations at the Academy, the Air Force, and DoD.
The Academy
is an ideal location for research that engages experts in
multiple fields working together with service members with
recent operational experience. The Institute fosters a
team approach to research that also includes cadets. Cadet
researchers develop critical thinking skills through the
mentored research process.
