North American Bird Strike Avoidance System Workshop, February 22-23, 2006, U.S. Air Force Academy

The workshop was designed to formulate and enact a strategic plan for bird avoidance research information sharing.  Participants included representatives from the Federal Aviation Agency, Transport Canada, US Air Force, and the North American Bird Strike Advisory System.

Defense Installation Spatial Data Infrastructure (DISDI) Workshop, January 12-13, 2004, Antlers Hilton Hotel, Colorado Springs

The invitational workshop was held at the antlers Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs.  The DISDI program aims to leverage best practices and emerging geospatial technologies to enhance the DISDI mobilization objective.

ALASKA Workshop, October 28-29, 2004, Cheyenne Mountain Resort, Colorado

The Agent and Library Augmented Shared Knowledge Areas workshop was held to organize an effort to build an ALASKA platform to test the concept of agent-based tutoring with digital libraries in a network environment.

Bird Avoidance Modeling Seminar, February 18 -19, 2004,  U.S. Air Force Academy

The Air Force Safety Institute requested IITA to develop a bird avoidance model to enhance safety for both the civilian and military aircraft flight.

GeoBase Compass Conference, May 18-22, 2003, Keystone, Colorado

The third annual GeoBase Compass Conference was held in Keystone Colorado with 600 persons in attendance.  Participants included military, contractors, and government personnel who came from world-wide locations to discuss the GeoBase concept and to demonstrate new GPS technologies.

Electronic Flight Bag Conference, March 4-6, 2003, U.S. Air Force Academy

August 28-30, 2001The intent of the conference was to draw participants from diverse communities with a stake in the concept of using an electronic flight bag to promote networking and to generate sufficient interest in development to enable the electronic flight bag to come to fruition.

Geobase Compass Conference, August 28-30, 2001, U.S. Air Force Academy

The conference was held in response to a decision of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force to take the GeoBase concept Air Force wide by developing  programmatic and technical material in an Air Force Strategic Plan.  The Plan is intended to outline steps required to achieve an initial operational capability.

GeoBase Seminar, December 5-7, 2000, U.S. Air Force Academy

Four GeoBase Seminars were held throughout 2000.  Each lasted for two and one-half days.  The number of participants varied from twenty to forty and were drawn from mid-level and senior managers who were responsible for investment in geospatial information technology.  The purpose of the seminars was to explore cooperation, investment, and shared exploitation of the information technology.

GeoBase Partnering Conference, February 16-19, 1999, U.S. Air Force Academy

 The GeoBase Partnering Conference was designed to bring together the civil engineering and communications and information communities to exchange ideas about building a smarter way to share geospatial information on our USAF installations.  The catalyst for the conference occurred in early Dec 98 when Lt Gen William Donahue (AF/SC) directed the Air Force Communications Agency to seek a more active, constructive dialogue with the civil engineering community to address the many overlapping geospatial information resource issues.  In this light, the conference allowed each community to appreciate the requirements and concerns of the other. 

Electronic Enterprise Endeavor, September 23-25, 1998, U.S. Air Force Academy

At the request of SAF/AQ, a conference on the Electronic Enterprise Endeavor was held at the United States Air Force Academy.  The purpose was to exchange ideas and discuss issues relevant to the electronic, paperless enterprise proposed by the Deputy Secretary of Defense.  Potential applications are in the Department of Defense travel, contracting, and personnel systems.  Major areas of discussion were those of reliability, verification, security, encryption, and legal jurisdiction.
