In addition to the letter grades listed above, seven other special grades exist:
- P (passing)
- N (no grade)
- W (withdrawn)
- WP (withdrawn passing)
- WF (withdrawn failing)
- IC (incomplete controllable)
- IU (incomplete uncontrollable)
These grades carry no quality points and are not used in computing any GPA.
Semester and cumulative GPAs are determined by dividing the total quality points earned in all graded courses by the total semester hours attempted.
GPAs - Cumulative GPA includes all grades earned while at USAFA. Semester GPA includes all grades earned in a given semester. Core GPA includes the grades for all core courses. Major's GPA includes the grades for courses designated by the Department Head responsible for that major, regardless of whether or not the course is being used to satisfy a major's requirement.
Overall Performance Average (OPA) - OPA determines graduation order of merit. OPA is the weighted combination of 70% Grade Point Average and 30% Military Performance Average (MPA). OPA = 70% GPA + 30% MPA.
