USAFA's academic curriculum is extremely robust and filled with a variety of majors and course options. Additionally, there are various other activities mandated on the student as well as numerous extracurricular activities to fill a cadet's schedule. It can become overwhelming. Academic Advisors are assigned to assist cadets on their new journey at USAFA and to guide them in balancing the many demands placed upon them.
Each cadet is assigned an academic advisor once they enter the Academy. There are two advisors assigned to each cadet squadron for the undeclared student. Cadets are assigned a new advisor once they declare a major. All academic advisors are part of the Dean of Faculty staff. Academic advisors assist with course registration, interpreting academic schedules, referrals for personal issues, summer schedules, mentoring, and guidance for those who become academically deficient.
