The Operational Concepts Division is focused on the application of strategic and operational concepts and strategies to learn how to exploit the battlespace to achieve combined effects. This division synthesizes and applies knowledge introduced in the strategy division.
The Military Operations Division mission is:
| ... apply and evaluate the validity of contemporary military concepts and strategies
|
To accomplish its mission, the Operational Concepts Division provides the "hands-on" application of military power, involving“learning by doing” so cadets have the opportunity to learn to think strategically and operationally, and act on their decisions. Military operations are conducted for a purpose, that of creating combined effects. Combined effects refers to the planned results of effects-based operations (EBO). Essentially, EBO are the product of strategies designed to achieve combined effects in support of broader objectives (see Joint Warfighting Center Pamphlet 7, Nov 04).
.
With a similar sense of purpose, the Operatonal Concepts Division offers learing experiences that afford cadets opportunities to ... explore the operational application of air, space, land, maritime, and information power strategies in order to achieve combined effects.
