The Military Strategy Division studies the basic concepts, principles and processes of military strategy (the joint operations doctrinal definition of ends, ways, and means) to develop a commitment to our profession and enhance our ability to plan and operate in the battlespace. Our focus is on context and concepts. Examples include civil-military relations, military transformation, the spectrum of conflict, innovation and officership, theories of military power, and effects-based strategy and planning. We strive to stay up-to-date with our profession and strategic thinking to ensure situational awareness of a dynamic battlespace. The Military Strategy Division mission is:

Key Tasks of the Military Strategy Division include:
- Explore the responsibilities, roles and issues of the military profession and their relationships to strategy.
- Evaluate contemporary theory and doctrine for integrated planning and employment of air, space, land, maritime, and information power.
