Biography
Lt. Col. Carl Janssen (USAFR Ret) is a volunteer instructor in the Department of Management at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He instructs one section of cadets each academic term.
Lt. Col. Janssen ranked second in his graduating class from the U. S. Air Force Academy in 1968 with double majors in Engineering Management and Economics. He was named an Academic All American football player. He completed a master’s degree in business, MBA, at UCLA and then Air Force pilot training at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona. His first operational assignment was piloting C-123’s on a combat tour in Vietnam. He then served as an instructor pilot in the T-38, an Assistant Director in the Admissions Liaison Office at the Academy where he also instructed in the T-41 and coached freshman football, and the Training Officer on the Joint Staff in Saudi Arabia.
After separating from active duty, he served in the Air Force Reserve as an Admissions Liaison Officer while he had a succession of jobs with Electronic Data Systems, EDS, and Atlantic Richfield Company, ARCO. In his final position, he was responsible for corporate aviation, real estate and services worldwide for ARCO.
