Biography
Colonel Armacost serves as Permanent Professor and Department Head for the Department of Management at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. As the Permanent Professor of Management, he commands a department of 38 military and civilian faculty members, responsible for all curriculum, personnel, budget, research and long-range planning. Colonel Armacost received his PhD and Masters from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA; and his undergraduate degree (with honors) and commission (ROTC Distinguished Graduate) through Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in 1989.
Col Armacost spent the first four years of his career in various positions at the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom AFB, MA. His positions included Program Manager of the Integration Test Facility, Commander's Staff, and Program Manager, Marine Corps Intelligence Center. Col Armacost was then selected for the Draper Fellowship at MIT where he earned his Master's degree in Operations Research. He joined the Air Force Academy faculty in 1995, departed for a three year PhD sponsorship assignment in 1997, and returned to the faculty in July 2000. While at USAFA, Col Armacost earned the academic rank of Professor of Management. After seven years on faculty, Col Armacost was assigned Chief Analyst and Division Chief, Analysis and Assessments, Air For Space Command at Peterson AFB, CO. In June 2008, Col Armacost was appointed to his current position.
