Department of English & Fine Arts Professional Writing Program

The Professional Writing Course is a two-hour presentation that offers practical, time-tested ways to improve official writing. It is available to bases or organizations that pay TDY costs for two instructors.

The course has been presented to audiences across the Air Force and federal government since the early 1970s. Using entertaining research and examples, the presentation focuses on the basics of workplace writing: understanding your audience, organizing your message, and writing concisely.

We do not focus on specific documents such as EPRs, OPRs, and Staff Summary Sheets, though audience members can easily apply the principles we discuss to those writing tasks.

The course is geared toward the kind of writing expected of NCOs and mid-grade to senior officers, though everyone is welcome to attend and will benefit from the ideas we present.

Call DSN 333-3930 or commercial (719) 333-3930 to put your organization on the course schedule. If you have a date in mind, call as soon as possible because our calendar can fill up four to six months in advance.
