VISITING PROFESSOR POSITION

The United States Air Force Academy Department of Computer Science is accepting applications for a Visiting Professor position for the 2012-13 academic year. This is an approximate 11-month appointment ideally suited for faculty on leave from their host institution. The Academy will reimburse the applicant's host institution for all salary and benefits during the appointment.

The Academy is an undergraduate institution that takes great pride in the quality of its teaching. Our students graduate in four years with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the US Air Force. Our program is fully ABET accredited, and includes courses in architecture, databases, compilers, operating systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, graphics, cryptography, and information warfare. We also staff a core computing technology course required of all Academy graduates, and our majors can participate in independent study/research seminars under the supervision of a faculty member.

The US Air Force Academy is located in Colorado Springs, nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak in the front range of the Colorado Rockies. Home to the US Olympic Training Center, it is well known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities. In the winter, world-class skiing and snowboarding are only a couple of hours away by car, while the summer hiking in the Rockies is breathtaking. The Academy will pay all reasonable moving expenses to and from the Academy.

We view this position as an opportunity to bring in outstanding faculty from all over the country to enrich our program, and to afford them a unique perspective on the Academy experience. For those not familiar with a military environment, this would be an excellent opportunity to learn more about an institution responsible for educating the young men and women who are sworn to protect America. Interested candidates should contact the Search Committee Chair, Dr.Barry Fagin, at Barry.Fagin@usafa.edu or 719-333-7377. A full application should include a cover letter and curriculum vitae. Electronic copies of each should be sent to the Chair. U.S. Citizenship and full-time employment at a U.S. college or university is required.

The United States Air Force Academy values the benefits of diversity among the faculty to include a variety of educational backgrounds and professional and life experiences
