Course Description:

 

 

Operating Systems. 3(1). Examines the design and implementation of programs that manage hardware resources and provide abstract interfaces for hardware control. Topics include resource allocation, synchronization primitives, virtual memory, information protection, performance measurement, I/O sub-subsystems, and distributed computing. Final Exam.

Course   Objectives:  

Upon successfully completing this course, you will:
  1. Understand and use the services provided by modern operating systems.
  2. Understand the structure and organization of modern operating systems.
  3. Critically evaluate alternative operating system designs.
  4. Understand and apply classic process, scheduling, and storage management algorithms.
  5. Read, understand, and write multithreaded programs in a high level language.
  6. Install, maintain, and effectively use the UNIX operating system.
