Course Description:

 

Computer Systems Analysis and Design I. 3(1). First course of a two semester project design sequence for Computer Engineering majors. Begins detailed study of software and hardware life-cycle, emphasizing user requirement analysis and specification. Also includes study of project documentation, analysis and management techniques, hardware limitations, and human-computer interface specification. Term project implements main concepts. Final Project.  

 

Prerequisites:

Comp Sci 380 or Comp Sci 220 (Class 2005 and beyond), El Engr 332, El Engr 322, and C1C standing

Course   Objectives:  

Develop student's knowledge and skills relating to computer system design. Specifically: 
  1. Illustrate and use a design process for large system development.
  2. Elicit and document requirements in a specification language.
  3. Apply modeling techniques throughout the design process.
  4. Perform hardware/software system decomposition.
  5. Estimate cost, performance, and other relevant quality metrics of a system design.
  6. Identify and resolve hardware design issues.
  7. Contribute effectively to a team.
