The United States Air Force Academy is located just north of beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was recently rated No. 1 in the West Region for the third consecutive year in the 2009 “America’s Best Colleges” rankings by U.S. News & World Report, among schools which focus on undergraduate education. The USAF Academy is an undergraduate institution that awards a Bachelor of Science degree to all its graduates as part of its mission to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation. The surrounding community offers incredible natural beauty, award winning schools, world-renowned outdoor recreation opportunities, and unmatched community support. The Academy faculty is an integrated group of military and civilian educators. Essential qualities expected of every faculty member include the personal attributes of integrity, industry, cooperation, initiative, and breadth of intellectual interests. The ability to accommodate a service academy environment is essential. The student body consists of approximately 4000 men and women representing every state and several foreign countries. In addition to a core curriculum of academic and professional courses, majors are offered in 30 academic disciplines. |
