General Civilian Positions in the Department

As an instructor in the Department of Astronautics, you'll instruct cadets in basic and advanced astrodynamics courses, controls, and system engineering. You'll also have the opportunity to conduct research in these areas with cadets and other faculty. Our primary mission is to produce the best possible 2nd Lt's for the U.S. Air Force that understand space. You'll provide motivation necessary to develop cadets into career officers for the Air Force.
Instructor Qualifications
Required
Earned Ph.D. in a related technical field
Ability to serve as a positive role model for cadets

Visiting Faculty Program
The purpose of the Visiting Faculty Program is to supplement the Air Force Academy faculty by providing visiting civilian educators from institutions of higher education. These civilian educators bring a vital expertise to the Air Force and take back to their permanent positions a broadened awareness of the Air Force Academy environment. In the process, these educators enhance their own professional development.
