The Aeronautics Research Center conducts research in many areas and disciplines for various DOD, Governmental, Industry, Educational, and Foreign entities. Our world-class facilities and personnel offer a standard of excellence unmatched in undergraduate education. The research projects which we are currently conducting are:
Air-Breathing Propulsion Research Group The Air-Breathing Propulsion Group performs experimental investigations in wind tunnels and in actual jet engines mounted in the Aero Lab's test cells. The objective is to gain an understanding of the important flow physics so that the turbomachinery designs can be optimized to provide increased thrust, reduced fuel consumption, and longer engine life. One of the group's current research projects are engine performance and power enhancements for the Predator A variant. The group's facilities include the Garrett F109 turbofan engine, a cascade wind tunnel, 2 dynamometer test cells, and an internal cooling duct tunnel. The DFAN researchers in this group are: Lt. Col. Keith Boyer Dr. A. Byerley
