The Academy Scholars Program (ASP) offers Academy Cadets a challenging path through the core curriculum, to provide the Air Force and nation with intellectually-serious and broadly-developed leaders. Special core
course sections include great works and ideas, to supplement an Academy Scholar's chosen major and balance technical excellence with a classical liberal education. ASP courses emphasize cadet-centered seminar learning to develop conceptual and communication abilities thus reinforcing the Academy's developmental model that fuses intellectual, character, and leadership excellence. The ASP, a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council, also includes special learning and leadership events, from speakers to enrichment beyond USAFA such as seminars at the Aspen Institute and the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship and research around the world. Launched in 2003, the ASP is a transformation initiative to help prepare 21st Century leaders for the complex challenges of the modern security environment.
