In Afghanistan with the 10th SFS
The young Afghani boy with leg deformities can't walk. He drags his body across the ground to get around. Americans who visited Molla Village tried to get the youth a wheelchair, with no success. That's when the Academy's 10th Security Force's Senior Airman Cassandra Cantu contacted her husband, Jorge, who also uses a wheelchair for mobility, in Colorado Springs. Jorge had his old wheelchair in the garage. In Afghanistan, the chair, with new wheels containing hard inserts free of charge thanks to a Colorado Springs medical supply store, will soon be given to the stricken boy. - continued - 29 March 2006 Cell phone use restricted on Academy A new Department of Defense regulation prohibiting the use of cell phones while driving on base went into effect on the Academy March 1. - continued - 1 March 2006 K-9 team takes a bite out of competition It was a weekend for the dogs in Tucson, Arizona. The 17th Annual Tucson Police K-9 Trail was held November 12th -14th with over 65 Law enforcement K-9 Teams. Among them were K-9 Aghbar and his Handler SSgt Kris Evers with the 10th Security Forces Squadron. Aghbar, a 6 year old German Shepherd and Evers have been a team since January 2002, when they started at the Air Force Academy. Aghbar is a dual purpose dog trained to detect explosives, and bad guys. Aghbar made his showing finding those bad guys.
