Parent's Weekend Information

Parents' Weekend Guests,

Parents' Weekend is the first opportunity your cadet-candidate will have to show off what he or she has already learned to family and friends, introduce you to USAFA, and give your cadet-candidate some much needed time off with family and friends! This page will provide you with all the information necessary to have a successful trip to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The following will help you to prepare for your trip to the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School, Colorado Springs, CO:

There are two airports which service the USAF Academy Preparatory School. It is recommended to check fares to both and consider the time/travel difference and convenience when making your selection.

There are many hotels near the USAF Academy Preparatory School. You will need to book as soon as possible for availability near the base. Rental cars and hotels are at a premium due to the large number of visitors to the area on Labor Day Weekend. There is no shuttle service from any hotel to the base; however, if you are physically challenged you may call Capt Joe La Monica at 719-333-2507 to set up a pick-up from your hotel to the Prep School. The Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Information page offers a list of hotels in the area for you to select from.

There is a link for driving directions to the USAF Academy Preparatory School campus on this page. There are only two gates leading into USAF Academy base. You may enter from South Gate located on Academy Blvd (exit 150B) from I-25 or the North Gate located on North Gate Rd (exit 156B) from I-25.

Your Cadet Candidate will be required to attend the USAF Academy Falcon football game versus Nicholls State University on Saturday, 5 September 2009, noon kick-off. You will need to purchase tickets to this game if you wish to attend. The phone number to call to guarentee that you are sitting near the Preparatory School designated area is (800) 666-8723. Be sure to mention you are a Preppie's guest so that they put you in or near the same seating area as your cadet candidate. Our seating area is L12, so you should have seats in L11, L12, or L13. If you use the USAF Athletic website to purchase your tickets, you may not be sitting close to the Preparatory School section.

There is an optional, yet highly encouraged, reception/tailgate on the USAF Academy Preparatory School campus immediatlly following the Prep School parade on Saturday morning and prior to the Falcon Football game. This reception costs $7.50 per person and offers a breakfast burrito, danish, and beverage per person in our Milazzo Club. It is recommended that you notify your cadet-candidate that you wish to attend and have them purchase the number of tickets needed. Last minute ticket additions will be available Friday on campus.
